HAITIAN EARTHQUAKE RECOVERY

If you are planning to go to Haiti as a non-medical volunteer please send and email to volunteers@laromana.org  We will put your name and skills on the list, compile that list, and forwarded it to Moises.  If you are asked to go to LaRomana you should contact Angela at ABC-IM for travel insurance and other information.  Her email address is

The additional expenses to accompany the team into Haiti for a week are below.

If your volunteer work will be in La Romana the cost is $49.00 per day.

COST:

$270 plus your round trip flight to either La Romana or Santo Domingo. 

$49/day each day you are in La Romana (for most of you that is two days)

This cost does not include any funds you may need in the DR for sightseeing or incidentals.

Airport Transportation cost:

Santo Domingo: $80/truck one way, divided by the number of passengers

La Romana: $40/truck one way, divided by the number of passengers

For example, if you are landing in Santo Domingo, and there are four people in the truck, each person would pay $20. If that is the same on the return trip, the total cost to you would be $40.

How to pay:

You can either bring cash, or you can write a check. 

If you are writing a check:

 Make it out to: GSMC (Good Samaritan Mission Council) for the $270/week Haiti and $31/day La Romana (for Sunday to Sunday trips that would be $332) Bring cash for the airport transportation.

 Mail it to: GSMC, 800 Main St Suite 126, Holden, MA 01520.

 Bring a photo copy of the check to La Romana for proof of payment.

If you want to bring a personal, business, or church check to the DR, make it out to El Buen Samaritiano.

GSMC is a 501(c)(3) and your checks are tax deductible. The funds are transferred to Good Sam Hospital and Moises, the hospital administrator, is notified when the money is available.
