As medical relief begins to slow the focus now becomes the tasks of fe eding thousands of people and caring for them in a different way.
The Good Sam Hospital is committed to providing medical assistance until the end of February. The food program started last week and is planned for six weeks. The cost per week is budgeted at $10,000.00.
All the food will be purchased in bulk in La Romana. Teams scheduled to be in La Romana through the end of February will put up family packages for distribution.
The lessons we have learned serving the families living in the bateys has provided the model for both the medical and food distribution programs.
Accompanying the food program pastors from the church in La Romana will be traveling to Haiti to help heal the spiritual lives of quake victims. Psychologists from the hospital will also go to help those who’s lives have been torn apart.
