How warm does it get?
The average year round daily temperature ranges from 85 -90 degrees

Do I need shots?
The only shot required is a tetanus booster.  Some people take malaria preventative medicine and others get shots for hepatitis ‘B’.  What we advise is to check with your doctor and do what you are most comfortable with.

Do I need a Passport?
YES! You MUST have a current passport.  You cannot get on the airplane without it. 

How many patients does the hospital see?
The hospital sees more than 50,000 patients annually.

What’s the biggest health problem?
For children in the batey the biggest issues are malnutrition and parasites.

Do I need to be a skilled construction worker?
No.  If your ‘handy’ around the house you have all the skill needed to help.

What’s a Batey?
A batey is a village where sugar cane farmers and their families live.  Usually about 1,000 people live in a batey.

How old do I have to be to go?
This varies by group.  Generally you need to be in your Junior year in High school to travel without your parents.
